Swimming Lessons

I couldnt get swimming lessons for the boys before we left Kansas City for our trip, so I make them wear floaties. But, right after these were taken, my older son ditched them and started swimming like a fishie under water....and my younger son is such a good kicker! Once we return, I am signing them up for lessons.

And a pic of P. petting the manta rays at the aquarium....he's so brave!

Who is cooler than me?

who else lets ya just jump around during your portrait session? We also played hopscotch.....someone else has pix of THAT one...

Some more from our vacation

We went to this shopping center the other night, and it had this cool boardwalk. The boys fed these HUGE carp in the pond (those things are gross!!), raced RC cars and then built their own cars, too!

It was fun....

Beach Vacation: Day Four

Yesterday it rained, so we took the kids to see Wall E (great little movie if you are looking for one for the kids).

Today we did the beach in the morning, the pool in the afternoon, and dinner and the hermit crab place at night...my kids love those hermit crabs. My 4 year old asked if we can get one when we get back to Kansas City...I might not get out of it this year....do they smell bad??

And a couple shot of my boys being goofy....well, being kids...

Beach Vacation: Day Two

I decided yesterday that I would shoot the beach day with a specialty lens that makes everything kind of funky looking. Its an incredibly hard lens to use, so my ratio of great photos was low, LOL

We are haing such a great time here at the beach! How can I relocate and become the worlds greatest beach photographer? Or can we have a beach in Kansas City? I'll work on that!

Work work work work work

I feel that I've neglected the blog since I've been so busy...I swear, I am the busiest child photographer in the Northland...maybe even in all of Kansas City....maybe in all of Missouri!

But, I love it!!

Some from Ottawa, Day One

Someone has a sense of humor up there in fate-land. My hubby asked me a long time ago, "what do you do in these workshops if it rains"? I said "I dont know". Well, yesterday in Ottawa, it POURED all day....we worked anyway. Thank goodness for overhangs...

Off I go for Round Two...

Stuck in Chicago

We had weather delays this morning, so I missed my connecting flight to canada by like 2 minutes.

So I am sitting here, with my butt falling asleep, with a laptop battery about to die (b.c stupid me thought "oh just pack the cord, I wont need it") and no book to read.

Snapped a quick pic so everyone can share in my day, LOL

Sometimes it takes a baby to remind me

That Our Lives are all so precious.
That Time is a gift.
That True Love *is* unconditional.
That Innocence *is* real.
That Yesterday is Gone, Tomorrow is Yet to Come, and Today is truly a Gift....thats why it is called the PRESENT.

Love and peace to you all today~

The face of an angel

I kept saying that during Miss A's session (in the heat!), but really it hit me when I opened this image...if Angels exist, surely this is what they must look like...

My Cruelty Knows No Bounds

I have a small teaching forum online where I give assignments and feedback to emerging photographers who take my workshops. Every week I try (try!) to give them an assignment to shoot before the next week. I almost always do it myself, as well. Its a good exercise in stretching myself to consistently be a creative child photographer.
So, this weeks assignment dealt with Candy, and in *my* mind, this is what I saw. Down into the bowels of Kansas City we went...Mr. B. is so used to me (he never knew Mommy was anything other than a photographer!), that he didnt even put up a fuss when I slipped the wings on him.

He did ask "are these girl wings"? To which I replied "No, honey, girl wings are pink".

Oh well, maybe I can barter for his therapy later in life...

A beautiful Belle

On a beautiful (non-raining, for once) morning, I got to play with a sweet Beauty. Miss K wasnt *all* that sure about being in my Fairy Tale Project, but she was such a good sport.

I also got to do a session that day with her brothers, so as soon as I finish the FTP images, you and your brothers are up! :)

Gun Control is Needed Here

I mean, really, folks. Can you *imagine* what would happen in this town if GUNS like these were just allowed to be possessed by anyone? What kind of world would it be if we let these GUNS be concealed? Would you feel safe confronted by these GUNS? I would definitely feel protected, but wow, these GUNS dont belong to me!

The Human Form

Actually the pregnant human form...its just so beautiful. The way the light wraps around the belly, the way the curve of the back shows so nicely, I just love photographing maternities.

This particular maternity is special in a lot of ways, but 2 come to mind...

1. This client has been waiting for many years to have a Maternity session

2. First new-studio Maternity session
I will be done with your session soon!!
